SIRPIGAL Foundation

About us

A society with equality, where everyone can stand on their own

Launched on 1 January 2012, Sirpigal is a registered non-profit organisation, unlimited by physical location and time zone. Our active volunteers and members work with one motto: “We must be the change we wish to see in the world.”

It began with a group of college students who wanted to do something meaningful for society. Over the years we have paid college and school fees, equipped children’s homes and schools with computers and books, taught classes, and stood by families in emergencies, including during Cyclone Gaja in 2018.

We work towards a better society with equality, where people can support themselves, and where each of us knows our responsibility to care for ourselves and for the society we live in.

Today, many of those students are professionals in IT and other fields. Sirpigal is back, bringing them together again to continue the work.

What we stand for

  • Bring younger minds together for a renaissance in society.
  • Change the lives of abandoned and orphaned children.
  • Show a ray of hope to the differently abled and senior citizens.
  • Connect members who choose to donate blood with people who urgently need it.
  • Report child abuse and child labour.
  • Help the underprivileged meet their most basic needs, including food and medical aid.
  • Work towards the betterment of society.

Who runs Sirpigal

Volunteers who make the change

Sirpigal is run entirely by volunteers: students, working professionals and well-wishers who give their own time, alongside their contributions.

They check every request before we help, keep the accounts, teach and mentor, and report back to members on where each contribution went. Anyone who shares our motto can become one of them.
